The Carp River Watershed

The Carp (Lake) River is 10.5 miles long and its headwaters begin in Paradise (Carp) Lake.  The Carp River enters Lake Michigan 5 miles west of the Straits of Mackinac.  The Carp River is one of 5 rivers home to the federally endangered Hungerford’s Crawling Water Beetle.

A variety of private, state, tribal and federal entities manage conservation projects in the watershed.  The Paradise Lake Association is an active volunteer group as well.
